Kemisan is founded in 1976 by Ahmet Palamutcu as a chlor-alkali company, and it successfully designed and manufactured its own Membrane Cell technology. Recognizing the evolving needs of water disinfection and chlorination, Kemisan developed its own electrochlorination technology —a safer, more efficient, and environmentally sustainable solution.

Building on decades of electrochemical expertise, Kemisan designs and manufactures the core components of its electrochlorination systems entirely in-house. Fifty years ago, when my father first stood before an electrolysis cell, what he saw was not a machine. It was a principle: apply the right current, and matter transforms. Brine becomes chlorine — a substance that saves lives. Everything we have built at Kemisan since that day rests on this single principle.
We devoted our first fifty years to perfecting it. We developed our own electrolyzer and coating technologies, and — beginning in the chlor-alkali industry — engineered systems that make water safe across the world. We never treated engineering as a marketing instrument; we regarded reliability not as a feature to be sold, but as a responsibility to be carried.
Today, I see something larger: electrolysis is poised to become the defining transformation technology of our era. At the heart of clean water, green hydrogen, carbon-free chemistry, and the energy transition lies the same principle — apply current, separate, transform. The world’s greatest challenges are like electrolysis cells, waiting for the right current.
It is with this conviction that we enter our second fifty years. Kemisan is no longer solely a manufacturer of electrochlorination systems; we are becoming a technology company that carries electrolysis engineering into the many domains where humanity needs it. Half a century of cell design, coating science, and systems engineering — we will bring this accumulated knowledge to every field electrolysis can touch.
